What is the role
of a carer?

The primary role of a carer is to assist elderly or disabled people with practical tasks they cannot manage alone or may need encouragement to complete independently. These include tasks around the home like washing, cleaning or cooking as well as activities out of the house like food shopping.

Due to the diverse nature of the role, carers perform a wide range of activities depending on the requirements and interests of vulnerable people. These responsibilities are especially varied when providing live-in care.
